Holy Myrrhbearers Monastery
Holy Myrrhbearers Monastery, founded in 1977, is a monastic community for women in the Orthodox Church in America (OCA). The monastery is located in Otego, New York, in the scenic Catskill mountains. Inspired by the desert mothers and fathers, within the monastery's framework of daily liturgical and personal prayer, we work as farmers, artists and craftsmen.

50th Anniversary: Celebration of Our Patronal Feast
Saturday, May 15, 2027
Join us on the Eve of Holy Myrrhbearers Sunday for a Divine Liturgy in the monastery chapel, served by Metropolitan Tikhon and Archbishop Michael, followed by lunch. We invite you to a banquet that evening in Oneonta to celebrate our community’s golden jubilee.
We will also be hosting a women's retreat for those who want to spend the weekend in fellowship.

The Myrrhbearers are the women who went to the Tomb of Christ carrying myrrh and other spices to anoint His dead body. On finding instead an empty tomb, they were the first to preach the Resurrection. In the Orthodox Church they are called "Apostles to the Apostles; the First Preachers of the Resurrection."
